Presentation

Digital-scratch is a software library that does motion detection on vinyl turntable. With Digital-scratch and a drivable audio player, a DJ can mix his audio files using his regular turntables.

How does it work ?

The DJ needs to use a "timecoded" vinyl disc which can be analyzed by Digital-scratch (using a sound card) to find speed, direction and position of the needle. For the moment it only works with FinalScratch vinyl disc.

Requirements

  • a timecoded vinyl disc
  • one (or more) vinyl turntable
  • one (or more) sound card
  • a GNU/Linux machine using ALSA drivers (will be ported on Windows as well)
  • a drivable audio file player (for the moment it only works with Mixxx)
