This is the list of current features:

This is how it looks like.

playground is freely available for download under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL).

The latest version 0.3.0 (2006/02/26) can be found on

By default, if you don't specify any arguments to the configure command, the applet will be installed in /usr/local. GNOME will not probably find the applet there, so this is what you need:

./configure --prefix=/usr --with-gconf-schema-file-dir=/usr/share/gconf/schemas
make install

Remember that GNOME applets are not executed as normal executables, they must be launched from GNOME panels menus.

This is the list of available plugins:

playground-bmp 0.3.1 2006/02/27 Beep Media Player (BMP)
playground-xmms 0.3.0 2006/02/26 X Multimedia System (XMMS)

By default, playground looks for plugins in its libdir directory. This means, that the plugins need to be installed with the same prefix. Given the example above this would be:

./configure --prefix=/usr
make install

The playground source code is stored in a Mercurial repository.
